Jenelle Griffith, the teenage girl who was found a week after she went missing, was not being held against her will, her mother said yesterday.
Nicole Cyrus said her 13-year-old daughter was staying with friends at a house in Chaguanas.
Police are, however, expected to interview a 25-year-old woman and 18-year-old man in connection with the girl’s disappearance.
“I asked her where she was and she said she was enjoying herself with friends in Chaguanas. She was not being held against her will,” she said.
An Express reader recognised the teen and called Crime Stoppers on Monday.
Police officers went to an apartment in Chaguanas and took away the Form Two pupil.
Griffith was interviewed at the Chaguanas Police Station.
She was medically examined at the Couva District Hospital and San Fernando General Hospital.
Griffith, who vanished on her 13th birthday, left her Iere Village, Princes Town, home on August 13 to purchase stationery for school and never returned.
Her family later found she had a secret Facebook account.
