MOTORCYCLIST Francis Roopnarine died yesterday while riding his motorbike along the highway in the company of his nephew.
Eyewitnesses said Roopnarine, 50, of Freeport, was heading south along the Solomon Hochoy Highway around 12.45 p.m. when he lost control of his Ninja Kawasaki motorcycle near Macaulay.
He crashed into the cable barriers. His motorbike rebounded into his nephew’s path and his nephew’s Suzuki collided with it.
Roopnarine’s bike stopped in bushes 200 metres away from the incident.
He was pronounced dead at San Fernando General Hospital.
His nephew sustained bruises to his hands.
Officers from St Margaret’s Police Station were at the scene and are continuing investigations.
Roopnarine’s relatives were at the hospital yesterday but did not comment about his death to members of the media.
