Mr Kill@ delivers despite rushed start

By by Mark Pouchet

Mr Kill@ (Hollice Mapp) said he had a rushed start but was satisfied with his overall performance in the Power category of the 2014 International Soca Monarch competition on Friday, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

Mapp eventually was in a three-way tie for second with Destra Garcia and Iwer (Neil George).

George, Cassi (Cassiano Sylvester), Lyrikal (Devon Martin) and Machel Montano, who lost his Groovy Soca title but retained his Power crown, were all satisfied with their performances.

“I am satisfied with myself, my improvising, hanging onto myself and then delivering. I wasn’t satisfied with the beginning; it wasn’t my fault, they actually announced me on stage before my props were on stage, which is the opposite. They supposed to have me set up myself as an artiste and then announce,” Mapp said of his eight-minute set.

“So it was a little bit crazy in the beginning of my set but I improvised, held my ground and then had fun.

“If yuh talking about the people on the ground in T&T, I love them too bad because they love me too bad right now. When it come to people on the ground my acceptance is amazing.

“I am blessed to be here tonight  and I am a winner because I won the opportunity to be part of the greatest soca show on the face of the earth,” said Mapp.
