Mt Hope resident gunned down

A 47-year-old resident of Mt Hope Place, Mt Hope, was shot dead near his home on Tuesday night.

His killing brought the murder toll for the year so far to four, according to an Express tally.

Police said at 7.40 p.m., residents of the area heard several gunshots, following which they contacted police.

Others went to investigate and found the victim, Daniram Teemal, on the ground with several injuries about his body, including two to the chest and one to his abdomen.

Residents took him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Up to last night, officers of the Homicide Bureau Region Two were unable to say what was the motive behind Teemal's murder.

They said he was not known to the police.

Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations. —GG
