Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of 34-year-old Dwayne Slocum, who was gunned down on Monday night in Laventille.
Police reported that Slocum, AKA Dash, was last seen walking along the roadway near his home at Sandy Trace, St Barbs, Laventille, when residents of the area heard several loud explosions. They contacted the E999 services, who in turn notified a party of officers from the Inter Agency Task Force, who were on mobile patrol in the area.
When the officers arrived, they found Slocum lying on the ground, bleeding from several injuries. He was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, however, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Slocum, police said, was a father of two.
It was believed that he was killed as a result of an ongoing turf war between two gangs in the area. Investigations are continuing.
This killing pushes the murder toll to 129.
