Murder suspect drinks poison
A MAN suspected in the killing of Gasparillo pipe-fitter Kenneth Marshall three weeks ago was found unconscious by police in Cedros on Tuesday after drinking a poisonous substance.
The 24-year-old suspect, of Gasparillo, was found in Manmohansingh Park, Southern Main Road, Bonasse Village.
He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.
Marshall, of St Fabien Road, was killed on September 17 after attending the Independent Liberal Party’s (ILP) launch of its local government election campaign at Gasparillo Junction.
Marshall was attacked outside a bar along Caratal Road.
Police said a group of men beat Marshall with a pair of brass knuckles, a stone and a stool. He died at the scene.
On Friday, two men appeared in court charged with the murder of Marshall.
Ian Lima, 32, of Sea View Drive, Marabella, and Jerome Hinkson, of Union Hall, San Fernando, appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court.
They were charged by WPC Alana Callendar of the Homicide Division (South).
