ON the seventh day of the new year, Trinidad and Tobago recorded it's 20th murder, the killing of a maxi taxi tout in Arima last night.

Derek Pina, 21, was ambushed and shot at the corner of Green and St Joseph streets, Arima, at around 8.30p.m.

Police said that Pina had worked that day, and the motive for the killing was unknown. Family members said that Pina had attempted to stay out of trouble by finding an honest job.

Pina's murder is unsolved, along with the other 19 which have occurred this year.

Meanwhile, the Police Service has cancelled its weekly police press conference which is usually held every Wednesday at Police Headquarters, Port of Spain.
