Murder suspect on the run since 2009 captured in Valencia

A TEAM of police officers yesterday went into the Valencia forest where they captured a murder suspect who had gone into hiding since 2009.

Police said around 1 a.m., officers attached to the Valencia Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Task Force went approximately 15 miles into the forest after receiving information the 39-year-old man of Valencia was hiding out in the area.

After two hours searching the forest the man was spotted walking through a track armed with a cutlass.

He was confronted and arrested, investigators said.

The suspect was wanted in connection with the September 16, 2009 murder of Orande Nwardo Reyes whose body was dug out of a shallow grave on September 29, 2009.

Reyes was reported missing by his relatives two weeks prior to his body being found.
