NP to motorists - Don't Panic Buy
...contingency plan in place
NATIONAL Petroleum today issued a press statement advising members of the public against panic buying in response to a work stoppage involving company employees who are members of the Oilfields Workers' Trade Union.
NP stated that while there were some delivery delays as a result of the action, there was a contingency plan in place.
The following is NP's full statement -
NP wishes to advise the public that there is no shortage of fuel and therefore no need to panic buy.
The Company has experienced some delays in delivery due to the illegal work stoppage taken by the Oilfield Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) on Tuesday August 13th and Wednesday August 14th 2013 at its gantry operations.
At this time the Company is unaware of any intention to privatise the organisation as claimed by the OWTU earlier today. The Board of Directors and Management have activated its contingency plan to ensure the timely delivery of fuel to our service station network. All efforts are being made to return operations to normalcy.
