New senator to replace Balgobin
Dr Sharon Legall has been appointed to act as an Independent Senator while Dr Rolph Balgobin, an Independent Senator, is out of the jurisdiction.
Legall was appointed yesterday by President Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona and is expected to be sworn in today by President of the Senate, Timothy Hamel-Smith.
Dr Legall is an attorney and course director and lecturer in Intellectual Property Law, Law of Trusts, Real Property I and the law relating to Equitable Remedies at the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago.
She obtained her PhD degree from Darwin College, Cambridge in 2009; a Master of Laws Degree in Intellectual Property Law from the Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada, in 1994; a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School in 1989; and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies in 1987. In 2012, she attained her Certificate in University Teaching and Learning from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago.
