Nightclub to launch shuttle service

By Sue-Ann Wayow

A SHUTTLE service to assist partygoers to reach home safely after liming is to be launched this weekend at Metro Nightclub and its sister company, Dream Ultra Lounge.

Both are located on the same compound in La Romaine, near to Gulf City mall.

Owner of Metro Nightclub Rajesh Chhita said the service will be available to patrons between the hours of 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Last month, San Fernando Mayor Dr Navi Muradali called on bar owners to take more responsibility for patrons.

His call came after three teenagers, twins Khadijah and Khertima Taylor, 18, and their friend, Teenisha Garcia, 19, died in a vehicular accident shortly after leaving Metro Nightclub at 4 a.m.

The accident occurred at Cross Crossing, San Fernando.

Chhita said he wanted to have the shuttle service even before he opened the nightclub, but was unable to find a reliable company.

TT Shuttles, based in Arouca, was eventually found.

Chhita said payments will be made directly to the shuttle company by the passenger.

The club and the company will decide on a suitable fee, he said.

Chhita said the service was part of the club’s “social responsibility”.
