No IDs yet of bodies found in landfill
The burnt remains of two bodies found near the Forres Park landfill in Claxton Bay in August have not yet been identified.
Senior police officers said samples were taken from the remains, believed to be a man and a woman, to be sent abroad for DNA testing.
Investigators said relatives of several missing people have visited the Forensic Science Centre in St James seeking information.
Police believe the man may have lived in San Juan and his relatives were asked to give DNA samples to confirm his identity.
“Several families have come forward but we have no information on the woman at this time. We are still asking that anyone with information to contact the police,” the police source said.
The two bodies were found beneath a pile of burning tyres near the landfill on August 3.
Police said the bodies were burnt beyond recognition.
The remains were found along a gravel track, about 100 feet off Tortuga Main Road.
Two spent shells were found near the corpses.
Southern Homicide Division officers are investigating the case.
