ToolsNo bail for having loaded gunBAIL was refused yesterday to Anthony Diablo, 25, when he appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates' Court, charged with having a loaded handgun in San Fernando on Carnival Monday. Diablo, of Couva, was held along the Rienzi Kirton Highway with a .38 revolver. Defence attorney Chateram Sinanan said Diablo is a father of two, with another child on the way. He said Diablo has no previous or pending matters before the court. But police prosecutor Sergeant Krishna Bedassie asked for time to have Diablo's criminal background traced. He said the offence was a serious one, and it allegedly happened during Carnival festivities. Senior Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan remanded Diablo in prison custody until today. —NB |
