No bail for man charged with rape of 3 women

A 26-YEAR-OLD Chaguanas handyman was denied bail in court yesterday on 14 charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, buggery and other sexual offences.

Olric Nicom, of Joyce Road, Perseverance, appeared before Magistrate Gillian Scotland in the Chaguanas First Magistrates' Court.

Scotland read three charges of rape, three charges of kidnapping, three charges of false imprisonment, two charges of grievous sexual assault, one charge of buggery, one charge of choking with the intent to incapacitate, and one charge of attempted murder to the accused.

Nicom is alleged to have attempted to murder a 23-year-old woman of Caroni.

The alleged offences were committed in January and February in Chaguanas, Curepe, and Tunapuna.

The alleged victims are three women aged between 21 and 23.

Nicom was arrested by officers of the Chaguanas Operations Unit at his workplace two weeks ago.

The charges were laid by Constable Trisha Maraj of the Chaguanas CID.

Several of the cases were transferred to Tunapuna Magistrates' Court, while the others were postponed to April 3 in Chaguanas Magistrates' Court.
