No new leads on escaped prisoner

ESCAPED prisoner Darryl Charles-Bissoon remained at large up to news time last night despite desperate efforts by the police to locate him following his escape on Monday from the Port of Spain prison, where he was on death row after being found guilty for a 2005 murder.

Police said that around 7.15 a.m., prison officers were making their rounds through the Frederick Street, Port of Spain jail and noticed that Charles-Bissoon and two other men were missing.

An alarm was sounded and the premises were searched.

Two of the potential escapees were captured when they were seen trying to scale the high walls of the jail, but police said Charles-Bissoon was already outside and was last seen heading towards east Port of Spain.

Port of Spain CID officers along with the Port of Spain Divisional Task Force were notified and began a search for Charles-Bissoon, but to no avail.

On October 6, 2012, Charles-Bissoon and Anderson "Weasel" Mapp were found guilty of the murder of Colin De Landro, who was shot dead during a family lime at Prizgar Road, San Juan on the morning of May 28, 2005.—GG
