THREE men are to appear in court on Monday charged with possession of narcotics, ammunition and a monkey, which police believe to be protected.
According to police reports, Insp Henry Dann, of St James Police Station, led an exercise in the Diego Martin area on Thursday afternoon.
During the exercise, Dann, accompanied by Cpl Charles and PCs Bernard and Wickham, went to the home of a 33-year-old man at Apple Blossom Avenue, Diego Martin, and executed a search warrant for narcotics.
The officers said upon approaching the home, the monkey, which was caged, began to scream and jump around.
The animal, named “George”, is believed to have been attempting to alert the owners of the home, police said.
The officers found 464 grammes of marijuana and three rounds of ammunition, which police say they have yet to identify.
The officers also discovered a Yamaha 250 horse power boat engine and hydraulic hoist at the home, which police have reason to believe was stolen.
Two other men, a 21-year-old from Apple Blossom Avenue and a 28-year-old from Vanderpool Lane, were at the home and were also arrested.
Acting Cpl Linton laid the charges.
