IN his last official address as mayor of Chaguanas, Orlando Nagessar yesterday wished members of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation well, but said he was not keen on being selected as mayor again.
The Chaguanas Borough Corporation hosted its awards ceremony at its newly opened administration complex, Chaguanas.
The theme was “Honouring Excellence in Service.” Nagessar said his name was submitted to be an alderman, and while he didn’t mind being part of the corporation in “ an advisory role”, he needed a break from mayorship.
Nagessar told the recipients of the awards that he was proud of their work. “It is not easy to keep working and acting in excellence, but this evening, your award means that you have done enough to be recognised. The challenge is in the maintenance of excellence.”
Nagessar said: “This evening, beyond receiving your award, be guided to strive, succeed, excel and promise, in turn, to support others in their endeavour to reach success just as someone else would have supported you in the past, leading you here.”
Also attending the ceremony was Minister of Trade Vasant Bharath, who delivered the feature address.
