Nurse suspended

Foetus sent home in garbage bag

The nurse at the Port of Spain General Hospital who sent a 23-year-old mother home with her baby’s foetus in a garbage bag has been suspended.

The five-month-old foetus was taken home by Tahia Jordan who suffered a miscarriage last Tuesday at her workplace in Port of Spain.

The foetus was left in a black garbage bag on her hospital bed by the nurse, it was said.

A release from the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) yesterday confirmed the nurse’s suspension.

“The North West Regional Health Authority wishes to confirm that the nurse was suspended with basic salary pending further investigation regarding the case of baby Tahia Jordan.

“The Chief Executive Officer of the NWRHA assures that Ms Jordan is continuing to receive counselling and the Authority is committed in conducting a through investigation in this matter.”
