Nurse beaten, raped by relative

A 27-YEAR-old trainee nurse reported on Monday that she was kidnapped and raped by a 28-year-old close male relative, an attack witnessed by her four-year-old son.

Police are searching for the suspect, who has since gone into hiding. The woman was awaiting transport at 8.30 a.m. at Chaguanas when the suspect pulled up in a car with her son seated in the front seat.

The suspect beat and bundled her into the back seat and drove to an isolated area at Ragoonanan Trace.

She told police the suspect pulled her out of the vehicle and dragged her into some bushes and beat her unconscious.

The nurse said she was placed in the trunk of the vehicle, and the car sped off. She reported the suspect took her to a bushy area at Coker Trace, and raped and beat her unconscious.

The victim said she was again placed in the trunk, and awoke sometime after 7 p.m. in a bedroom with her four-year-old son.

The woman contacted her mother, who assisted in taking her to the Chaguanas Health Centre.

The victim is warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex at Mount Hope.
