Orville: Integrity is Jack's problem

By Elizabeth Williams

Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Orville London has said the issue in the THA election is not about Ashworth Jack's house or the house that Jack built, but one of integrity.

He stressed that it was the integrity of the People's Partnership Government and the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) with respect to the TOP leader's house that is the issue.

Speaking at Belle Garden at a People's National Movement (PNM) political meeting on Tuesday, London, political leader of the PNM Tobago Council, noted that the issue involving Jack's house has now brought the TOP under severe scrutiny, especially in light of the upcoming election.

"The issue in the election is not Jack's house. The issue in this election is Jack's integrity, the integrity of the TOP and the integrity of the PP," London said.

According to London, that Jack brought notes into the Leaders Debate held by the Debates Commission last Thursday showed up his character and also that neither he nor his party was honest.

"Jack's house and Jack's behaviour in the leadership debate is indicative of the character of the man, and the attributes that he displays. They are not Tobago qualities," London said.

London said despite the challenges in days leading up to Monday's THA election and the anticipation that there would be bribes and bullying for votes,  the People's Partnership Government as well as the TOP, were fully aware "the red army" would beat them in the election.
