PM leaves for funeral in Florida

...Foreign Affairs Minister to act until Thursday


The Office of the Prime Minister this afternoon disclosed that Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has left the country to attend the funeral of a family member in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The following is the statement from the office of the Prime Minister -

The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC, MP, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, left today (Monday) for Fort Lauderdale, Florida,
on private business to attend the funeral service of a family member.

The Prime Minister is expected to return to Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday evening. During the absence of the Mrs Persad-Bissessar from Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Winston Dookeran, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will act as Prime Minister.

Before flying out at 12.30 pm, the Prime Minister met with several of her Ministers and Parliamentary colleagues at the Diplomatic Lounge at Piarco International Airport.
