PRIME MINISTER Kamla Persad-Bissessar will be walking through the streets of Laventille today together with several other Ministers to meet with residents and listen to their concerns in the crime-stricken community.

Minister of National Security Jack Warner made the announcement last night during a police town meeting at Beverly Hills, Laventille.

Warner said while on his way to the meeting, he received a phone call from Persad-Bissessar, asking him to inform residents in the area that they would not be forgotten and that her Government will do everything in its power to bring peace and stability back to the area.

"So while other politicians are walking to President's House to deliver a petition to a president who is not even in the country, Mrs Persad-Bissessar's Government will be walking through the streets of Laventille from 2.30 p.m. tomorrow (today) to meet with you and listen to what you have to say," said Warner.

Yesterday's town meeting was the second of a series of meetings which will be taking place throughout the Laventille community. The first meeting was at the John John basketball court on Friday.

Warner also stressed the need for better parenting, saying that it plays a major part in the fight against crime.

"The police will work hard in doing its part in fighting crime, the regiment will do its part, air surveillance will assist, new technologies will be introduced and all of that is great, but ultimately it is you the parents and members of the community who must come together if we were to win this war," Warner said.
