Passenger critical: shot multiple times in head, body

A 26-year-old man is currently warded in a critical condition at the Port of Spain General Hospital after he was shot multiple times about his body yesterday morning.
According to police reports, at about 8 a.m. the victim, who was not identified up to press time, was the in the front passenger seat of a rental car which was proceeding through Petit Valley, when another vehicle blocked the path of the rental car.
Two occupants, a man and a woman, reportedly opened fire on the rental car.
The victim was hit several times about his head and lower torso, while the driver of the rental car was unharmed.
The two assailants then fled the scene.
The driver of the rental car rushed his injured passenger to the Maraval Police Station.
From there, the victim was transferred to hospital. A party of officers from the Western Division were dispatched to the scene of the incident and several spent shells were said to have been recovered.
Police officers said arrests are imminent as the two assailants were said to be known to them. Investigations are continuing.
