Pastor, daughter on drug, ammo charges

By Nikita Braxton-Benjamin South Bureau

Dorean Rojas, 55, a pastor, and his daughter Marion Rojas, 28, pleaded not guilty to the three charges read by Princes Town Magistrate Margaret Alert.

The accused appeared before the court yesterday, charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana and ammunition.

It was alleged they had 200 grammes of marijuana and two grammes of cocaine at a house at Basseterre, Moruga, last Thursday, as well as, 12 rounds of 9mm and 12 rounds of .357 ammunition.

The marijuana, police prosecutor Sgt Subhas Ramkhelawan said, consisted of three foil packets and black bags containing 77 foil packets.

Attorney Faraz Mohammed represented the two. He said Dorean Rojas was a pastor at a Seventh Day Adventist Church and Marion was one of his four children.

Marion Rojas, Mohammed said, was employed as a National Maintenance, Training and Security Co (MTS) guard and is a mother of two.

Mohammed said his clients had no previous matters before the court. He asked that they be placed on "reasonable bail".

Alert granted the pastor $50,000 bail and his daughter $35,000 bail. They were ordered to return to court next Friday.
