ToolsPeacemaker killedA TOCO man was chopped to death on Tuesday night, minutes after parting a fight between two friends. The victim, Peter Richard, would have been 20 on Monday. Police said that around 11 p.m., he and some friends were liming at a house at Cemetery Street, Toco when one of the men, Randall Lyons, was wrestled to the ground by another man. Lyons and the other man began arguing and this then turned into a physical fight between the two. Richard saw what was going on and intervened and after placing his body between the two men coaxed them into stopping. The suspect then ran out the house shouting obscenities as he left. Richard and Lyons then walked out the house, but as both men were heading to their respective homes the suspect ran up to them and, this time armed with a cutlass, he chopped Richard once to the neck. The suspect ran off again. Residents called the police and a team of officers from the Toco Police Station arrived on the scene and took Richard to Sangre Grande District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect was later arrested at his home by the police and up to press time last night he was being questioned about what happened. The murder toll stood at 303 up to press time last night. Sangre Grande CID, Toco Police and the Region Two Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.
