Penal man drowns in pond

A 27-year-old Penal man is suspected to have drowned in a pond near his home yesterday.

Police said the body of Indar Ganga, of Snail Trace, Scott’s Road, Penal Rock Road, was fished out of the pond some three hours after he went missing.

According to police, Ganga was liming with family and friends at a pond near his home when, at around midday, he dived into the water.

When he did not resurface after several minutes, a search began for him.

Officers of Penal Police Station responded and at around 3.15 p.m. the body was seen floating in the water.

The body was taken to the San Fernando mortuary where an autopsy is expected to be performed tomorrow.

Penal police are continuing investigations.
