Police issue 54 penalty notices

 On December 3, officers of the Malabar Police Post under  Sgt Jugmohan carried out several road traffic exercises in the Malabar district. 

Fifty-four fixed penalty notices were issued for various offences. Also around 2.25 p.m. the day before, Sgt Gyan, Cpls Bernard  and Gordon were on mobile patrol along Ackbarali Street Ext, Malabar when they saw a man known to them standing on the street. Police said as they approached him, he began to run away and a revolver fell from him. A warrant is to be issued for his arrest.

In another incident around 11.15 p.m. on Tuesday officers of the South Western Division under  Cpl Victor were on mobile patrol along London Street, Cap-de-Ville when they stopped a vehicle with two men. The men ran out of the vehicle and fled into the bushes. The  vehicle was searched and a Browning pistol with seven rounds 9mm ammunition was found and seized. Constable Ramlal  is continuing enquiries.
