Police find gun at Chagville Beach

A black 9mm firearm was seized by police last Thursday at Chagville Beach, Chaguaramas.
According to police reports, around 9 a.m., a party of officers from the Western Division, including Insp Hospedales, PC Farris and PC Charles, were on mobile patrol in the Carenage district when they received information that a weapon was located along Chagville Beach.
The officers went to the beach and searched the area. On the western side of the beach, near some bushes a short distance from the shore, the officers observed a black metal object resembling a firearm. They seized the weapon, but as no one was in the vicinity of the gun at the time of the discovery, no one was held.
The officers transferred the firearm to Carenage Police Station. It is expected to be taken for ballistic testing this week to determine if it was used in any reported illegal activities. —Alexander Bruzual
