Police nab 7 drunk drivers

93 arrested during 3-day South exercise

Seven motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during a special exercise in the Sou­thern District.

They were among 93 people arrested for various offences during a three-day exercise throughout the district.

The exercise was supervised by Senior Superintend Cecil Santana and included Superintendent Zamsheed Mohammed, ASP Yusuf Gaffar, Inspector Don Gaja­dhar,

ASP Jackman and Sergeant Vijay Ram­dhanie, among others.

The exercise was carried out in Mo­ru­ga, Princes Town, Ste Madeleine, Coco­yea, Pleasantville, Mon Repos, Marabella, Gasparillo, Claxton Bay, San Fernando, La Romaine and environs.

Police said persons were arrested for offences including narcotics, robbery, larceny and outstanding warrants. 

The officers conducted 583 stop and searches of vehicles and issued 102 traffic tickets.
