THE deaths of two baby girls are being investigated by police officers.
In Marabella, a seven-month child died hours after she was found lodged between the wall and the bed.
Police said it was around 9 p.m. on Saturday the baby's aunt was at her Battoo Avenue, Marabella home when she left the girl for a short time on a bed.
She returned to find her in a standing position between the bed and the wall.
The child was removed but soon after a seven-year-old child told the caretaker that the baby was throwing up.
Blood was seen coming from her mouth, the police report said.
The girl was taken to a private doctor's office a short distance away and was transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital by ambulance.
She was pronounced dead at the institution.
The Express visited the Marabella house yesterday but relatives were reluctant to speak.
A female relative was seen leaving with police officers after giving information to a policeman for a short period.
Acting Cpl Williams is continuing investigations.
And in Indian Walk, Moruga a 33-year-old housewife was at home around 5.30 p.m. on Saturday with her four-month-old daughter when she realised the child was breathing irregularly.
Two hours later the child arrived at the Princes Town District Health Facility where she was pronounced dead.
The mother told the police she had taken her baby to the same facility last Thursday and the child was treated and discharged.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted today on both babies.
