Police woman on marijuana charge skips court hearing

By Rickie Ramdass

THE police officer who was arrested on Friday, after police allegedly found more than a kilogramme of marijuana in her Chaguanas home, yesterday had a warrant issued for her arrest after she failed to show up in court.

The officer, 26-year-old Gina Mansook, who is attached to the San Fernando Municipal Corporation, had the warrant issued by Magistrate Avason Quinlan following her non-appearance.

Mansook was arrested by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) after the officers allegedly found 1.5 kilogrammes of marijuana in her house.

After being charged with the offence by PC Lorenzo Lezama, Mansook was granted bail at the station by a Clerk of the Peace and allowed to leave.

She was scheduled to appear in the Chaguanas Court yesterday morning, but by 11 a.m., she had not made herself available, before the magistrate issued the warrant.
