A female police officer was struck by a car on Friday, allegedly driven by a man whose car had been wrecked earlier that day.
WPC Joaneal Coo-mansingh was treated at hospital for injuries to her legs.
The incident occurred in a wrecking bay next to the San Fernando Police Station and a suspect was arrested at the scene.
The suspect, a security officer employed with Trinidad Cement Ltd, is expected to appear in court today charged with dangerous driving.
According to police, around 1.30 p.m. the suspect went to the wrecking bay to retrieve his vehicle that had been impounded hours before.
Police said the suspect got into an argument with WPC Coomansingh, who was at the security booth of the bay.
Coomansingh closed the gate to the bay, and requested he step out of the vehicle.
The suspect instead started his vehicle, and struck Coomansingh.
She was struck on her legs, and fell onto the bonnet of the vehicle, the Express was told.
A female police officer who stood nearby alerted other officers at the station and the suspect was taken into police custody.
