Prakash: I'm satisfied

By Renuka Singh

Congress of the People leader Prakash Ramadhar was "satisfied" with both the Prime Minister's explanation and her dismissal of Minister of Justice Herbert Volney. In a brief telephone interview yesterday, Ramadhar said the evidence required the Prime Minister to "act in such a manner".

"It was about the issue of culpability and the person has been removed," he said.

Ramadhar said the Prime Minister's statement signaled a "new era" of politics.

"It shows that anyone acting against the people must be acted upon. We welcome that type of action,"he said.

Ramadhar said the Prime Minister reaction was not "knee jerk" as she deliberated on the issue and gathered the evidence before making a statement.
