‘Price’ to audit oil leak

The firm PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Services Ltd has been appointed as the independent auditor to investigate the cause of the oil leak at the Pointe-a-Pierre Refinery on July 29, Petrotrin said last night.

Following the leak at Tank MP6, in the Pointe-a-Pierre Refinery, an estimated 5,000 barrels of slop oil had seeped into the Guaracara River. The majority of the slop oil was contained within the refinery.

Petrotrin  said a  preliminary inspection of the collapsed bund wall following the leak also revealed the bund wall was not constructed according to the engineering design specifications.

Last Saturday, Petrotrin announced it had suspended the vice-president of its refinery and marketing department over the oil spill.
