Probe into man’s death

POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 61-year-old man whose body was found in a pool of blood at his San Juan home yesterday morning.

Up to last night, officers were unable to say how Kamal Balgobin met his death and are awaiting the results of an autopsy to be performed on his body tomorrow.

Officers said at around 10.30 a.m., Balgobin’s relatives found him lying in the corridor of his Bhaggan Avenue home before contacting police.

Investigators said they initially believed Balgobin had fallen and hit his head but after his body was viewed by a district medical officer, the officers said they were advised by the doctor to treat the case as a possible homicide until the autopsy is performed.

This advice, they said, was given as a result of the major blood loss Balgobin suffered which could have been as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.
