CONGRESS of the People (COP) leader Prakash Ramadhar on Friday tackled the party’s detractors, saying they felt the need to attack even while trying to convince the population that the COP was “dead”.
The COP held its local government elections launch at Constantine Grounds in Tunapuna, presenting 53 candidates who will contest the October 21 elections for the regional corporations of Diego Martin, Arima and Tunapuna/Piarco and the city corporations of Port of Spain and San Fernando.
Ramadhar has brought to the hustings the slogan “Watch your back with Jack”, a warning against his former government colleague, Independent Liberal Party (ILP) interim leader Jack Warner. Ramadhar knocked Warner’s Sunshine newspaper, saying the contents were alarming in that they were passing as news.
“Sunshine is supposed to bring light not darkness but when you lie, you can turn light into darkness,” he quipped.
Also speaking was COP chairman, Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, who said the party will continue to focus on people and not power.
