Elections can’t stop love.
On Sunday October 13, while the United National Congress campaigned for votes in the local government elections, one of their Ministers was tying the knot.
Minister in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Ramona Ramdial, married Devindra Barrath at a private Hindu ceremony.
A reception was held on October 19 at the Petrotrin Staff Club.
Ramdial told the Express yesterday that she and Barrath have been together for the past three years and they decided to make their bond an official one.
She said there is no time for any honeymoon as there was much work to get done but she was certain her marriage will be a happy one.
A number of ministers in the Kamla Persad-Bissessar led Government have gotten married since assuming office in 2010.
Food Production Minister Devant Maharaj, Minister of the People Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh, NJAC Deputy leader Embau Moheni and Minister in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Stacy Roopnarine have all married their long time loves.
During the Chaguanas West by-election campaign, UNC candidate Khadijah Ameen got engaged.
