Rape, murder suspect shot dead by cops

A 29-year-old man wanted in connection with a murder, child rape, and robbery was shot dead by police in Claxton Bay yesterday.
Anthony Hepburn was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police officers who went to take him into custody.
Hepburn was the main suspect in the murder of Sean Jaikaran, who was shot and killed at the TCL recreation ground in Claxton Bay last month.
He was also a suspect in the rape of a 13-year-old girl during a robbery at the home of her family.
According to police, based on a tip-off, around 2.30 p.m. a party of police officers of the Central Division Task Force led by Senior Supt Johnny Abraham went to Sookhoo Trace.
The Express was told that when police officers arrived at the house and called out to Hepburn, he came out of the house firing.
Police said they returned fire and Hepburn was hit.
He was taken for treatment but was pronounced dead at hospital.
