Relatives keep vigil for diver’s body to resurface

The relatives of missing bus driver Alex Sookhoo returned to Columbus Bay, Cedros yesterday, praying that his body would be recovered.

Sookhoo, 28, was last seen alive after he dived off a rock on Sunday.

Police believed he drowned in the rough waters and the Coast Guard was contacted to assist in the search.

A helicopter hovered overhead as Coast Guard divers combed the waters yesterday.

Sookhoo’s father, Namdeo Sookhoo, and other relatives kept vigil at the beach.

Police said Sookhoo went to the beach with relatives and was having fun when he dived off the rock at 2.45 p.m.

He did not resurface and relatives began looking for him.

The search continued and up to last evening he was not found.

PC Hosein of the Cedros Police Station is investigating.
