A RELIGIOUS leader was among four men arrested in Fyzabad yesterday, allegedly in possession of cocaine, a firearm and ammunition.
The 68-year-old man, who is from St Vincent, was arrested along with the others at a house at Dubarry Trace.
According to police, at around 8 a.m., a party of officers of the South-Western Division Task Force, including Insp Granger, Sgt Joachim, corporals Harripersad and Scipio and constables Aguillera and Rajgobin, executed a search warrant at the house.
Police said they found 40 grammes of cocaine, a home-made 12-gauge shotgun, and one round of 12-gauge ammunition.
The items were seized and police arrested the religious leader, as well as a 16-year-old boy, a 23-year old man and a 28-year-old Vincentian man.
They were taken to Fyzabad Police Station, where they were charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition.
The charges were laid by Constable Aguillera.
The four are expected to appear in court on Monday.
