A RIO Claro man was arrested on Sunday after he was found by police with a quantity of firearms, ammunition and camouflage clothing.
The 29-year-old suspect was held during a police exercise, led by Inspector Wayne Doodhai of the Eastern Police Division and including officers of the Rio Claro CID and Eastern Division Task Force.
According to police, at around 3 p.m., officers were on patrol in Khandan Road, Rio Claro, when they stopped and searched the suspect.
Police said they found on him a Glock pistol with two magazines and 23 rounds of ammunition.
Police said the suspect was carrying a black plastic bag with a Colt revolver and six rounds of .38 ammunition, 19 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition, ten rounds of .380 ammunition and nine rounds of 12-gauge cartridges, and a camouflage jacket and pants.
Police also executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home and allegedly found 20 rounds of .38 special ammunition.
The suspect was arrested by PC Poll and is expected to appear before a Rio Claro magistrate this week.
