The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has advised the public of road works along the southbound lane of the Diego Martin Highway, from President Wiseman Avenue to Morne Coco Road.
These works form part of the Diego Martin Highway Expansion Project (DMHEP).
After paving works and road marking to the new lanes outside the existing highway over the weekend, there will be shifting of traffic from the existing to new lanes, from 11 a.m. today.
According to a news release from the Ministry, the traffic shifting is necessary to facilitate the completion of road works along the southbound lanes in the vicinity of Acton Court.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and comply with instructions from police officers on site to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic in an orderly manner.
The Ministry said it appreciates the patience of road users during this time, as it knows “there have been inconveniences associated with the DMHEP”.
“The DMHEP is a project of the National Infrastructure Development Company (NIDCO) and is a major infrastructural upgrade to that road network, which would see the reduction of traffic pile-ups and reduced travel time for persons entering and exiting the Diego Martin area.”
The Ministry has also advised of paving works along the eastbound lane of the Western Main Road (right hand side) from the Diego Martin Highway overpass to the bow-tie turn around.
The paving is scheduled to take place tonight from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
