Road caves in at Roxborough
THE Roxborough/Bloody Bay Road was completely cut off to vehicular traffic yesterday as the road caved in, a news release from the Tobago House of Assembly's Division of Infrastructure and Public Utilities said yesterday.
The release said workers with the Development Section were excavating the side of the road about a half mile from the Bloody Bay Junction in preparation for concrete casting of a retaining wall when the soil caved in towards the open trench.
No one was injured, the release stated.
Steel for the base had already been put in place over the last two days and the concrete truck was on site. However, the concrete work had to be cancelled, the release said.
Engineers are expected to excavate the soil and repair the roadway this morning, the release said.
Motorists wanting to get to L'Anse Fourmi or Bloody Bay should use the alternative routes through Moriah or the Charlotteville/L'Anse Fourmi Link Road.
The Division will keep the public abreast of the situation, the release said.
