Robbery motive for double murder in Chaguanas

By Susan Mohammed

POLICE believe that the slaying of a “PH” taxi driver and a female security guard outside a cemetery in Chaguanas two weeks ago was “collateral damage” inflicted by a killer                         whose bullets were meant for another man.

Clifford George, 39, of Carolina Village, Couva, and Salisha Langtoo, 23, of Lisas Gardens, Couva, died during what believe police was robbery.

The killers took $10,000 from a passenger in George’s hired car.

On December 12, George was found slumped over the steering wheel of a red Nissan Almera, shot multiple times, while Langtoo was bludgeoned to death. Two other victims at the scene at Chaguanas Public Cemetery were Kwesi Brooks, of Tobago, and a woman, whom police identified only as Carlene.

Brooks was found by police lying in a drain outside the cemetery, bleeding from chop wounds, while Carlene was shot in the face.

Police believe that the killer meant to rob Brooks, 31, of $10,000 he received after selling his car, to purchase another one.

However, the suspects received information that Brooks was travelling in a taxi with the cash and hijacked the vehicle in Chaguanas.

 Police have identified several suspects.
