Santa Cruz man gunned down

Gunmen snuffed out the life of another man in Santa Cruz on Wednesday night.

Dead is 27-year-old Jezereelo Roberts of Spring Valley Road in Champs Fleurs. He was killed instantly after being shot several times about his body while standing along Carmen Road off Gasparillo Trace, around 8.30 p.m., police reported.

Officers said residents in the area reported hearing several loud explosions and later went to investigate when they came upon Roberts’ body lying along the roadway next to a car park.

The police were called in but by the time they arrived, Roberts was already dead, said investigators.

Homicide detectives along with crime scene experts went to the area where they recovered several spent shells.

Roberts was said to have been well known to the police as he had several matters before the court.

An autopsy was performed on his body yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

While the autopsy was being done, members of the media attempted to speak to his family members but they refused to comment.          —RR
