Schoolboy gets bail on rape charge

A TEENAGER charged with raping a Form One pupil while in school was yesterday ordered to stay 500 feet away from the alleged victim.
The 17-year-old Fourth Form pupil appeared before the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court with his grandmother at his side.
His mother was also in court and the teenager was represented by attorney Petronilla Basdeo.
The charge was read that at the school last week, he allegedly had sex with a minor who had reached the age of 14 years but was not yet 16 years old.
Senior Magistrate Debra Quintyne placed the boy on $70,000 bail, on the conditions that he keep 500 feet away from the girl and have no contact with her.
The case was adjourned to June 27. —NBB
