Schoolboy stabbed, one beaten during school fight

By Susan Mohammed

A PUPIL of Pleasantville Secondary School was stabbed and another beaten during a fight on the compound over a book bag yesterday.

Police were told that at around 8.45 a.m., a 16-year-old pupil attacked an 18-year-old pupil with a knife during the altercation.

The two schoolboys scuffled and the 18-year-old was stabbed in the leg, while the 16-year-old was beaten about the head.

The pupils were taken to San Fernando General Hospital, where they were treated and discharged.

Police are investigating whether the incident was linked to gang violence and that the two schoolboys were members of a gang robbing pupils at the school.

Police questioned several pupils of the school and detained a pupil. He was taken to Mon Repos Police Station for questioning and subsequently released, pending further investigations. Constable Persad is investigating.
