WESTERN Division police arrested a suspected serial rapist over the weekend and are asking women who may have been assaulted by the 29-year-old man to come forward and assist them with their case.
They said that he may have been carrying out these crimes over the last five months, in company with another male suspect who is currently being sought by investigators.
The man, police said, used either a Nissan Tiida or a Honda Civic and would ply the taxi route between St James and Port of Spain. He would pick up women and when he got them alone in his car he would carry them off route to a desolate area where he would sexually assault and rob them.
Police said acting on information about an incident last Friday night, they went to the man’s St James home on Saturday morning when they arrested him.
The man is currently being questioned at St James Police Station and may appear in court this week, but the police are asking that in a bid to build a much stronger case they need further public assistance.
