Seven held for stolen van

SEVEN men are in police custody after they were held in connection with a stolen van in central Trinidad.

Two of the men were in the process of stripping the vehicle when they were spotted by the police.

Police said that at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, police officers from the Brasso Police Station were on patrol and received a message that a Nissan Navarra was being stripped in Caparo.

The officers found two men who told them they had been given a job and that more people were coming to meet them.

A short while later, a Nissan B13 car arrived, but sped off when the driver saw the officers.

They were later intercepted in Chase Village.

The men, of St Helena, Santa Cruz and Maraval were held.

The owner of the stolen vehicle was unknown yesterday.

Constables Dookhie, Ramlal and Meharris made the arrests.
