A PIROGUE carrying a flock of sheep and a 54-year-old Cedros man was intercepted by Coast Guard officers on Sunday.

At around 2 p.m., a vessel named "Zafrulla" was intercepted in the Gulf of Paria after 31 sheep were seen on board.

The animals were taken to the base at the Customs and Excise Unit in Cedros and later examined by a veterinarian.

Officers of Cedros Police Station and the Praedial Larceny Unit were called in and the suspect was taken to the Cedros station.
The sheep were taken to the Cedros Breeding Unit, pending further investigations into the incident.
